Unprecedented show in Iasi on International Romani Day

The “Mihai Ursachi” House of Culture of Iaşi Municipality, in partnership with the County Office for Roma within the institution of the Prefect of Iaşi, invites the Iași public to a marathon show dedicated to the International Romani Day. The event on Friday, April 8, which will take place in Copou Park, will start at 1 p.m., and renowned artists from the Roma community will perform on the specially arranged stage. The audience will be able, for the first time, to listen in an extraordinary recital to the artists of the Shukar Marching Band from 10 Prăjini, coordinated by Costică Panţiru. At the same time, during the show, the twin brothers Yannis and Yustin Boroş will perform, who with their talent conquered the viewers of the show “Romanians have Talent”. The event marking International Roma Day will be moderated by Elena Motaş.

International Roma Day is celebrated annually on April 8, to draw attention to the challenges of discrimination faced by Roma communities across Europe. The initiative to mark International Roma Day came in 1971, when the first International Congress of Roma Everywhere was held in London. In Eastern European countries, including Romania, April 8 has been marked since 1990, after the fall of the communist regime.
