There are several places where you can go, all of them being relatively safe and welcoming. Closest to the city is the Ciric Lake and Forest, where you can engage in walk in the beautiful forest surrounding the lake. A bit to the north you will find the Aroneanu and Dorobanț lakes, suitable for laying down a blanket and staring at the sky or fishing and water sports.
To the south there are the wonderful forests between Bârnova and Dobovăț, one of the largest extra-Carpathian areas of natural beauty, for which efforts are being to protect it by declaring it a Natural Park. You can just venture into the forests by yourself as there are some marked trails or get in touch with the nature loving people from Codrii Iașilor for guided walks and other activities.
In this area you’ll also find the Repedea hill (the relay) which is a wide plateau known for its spectacular view of the city. It also has a natural climbing wall if you love the challenge. In the summer, the area is visited by a lot of locals who spend time in the sun.
