Nature near Iasi

The warm embrace of nature surrounding the city is the best opportunity to combine a city break with walk and bike rides in the countryside.

There are several places where you can go, all of them being relatively safe and welcoming. Closest to the city is the Ciric Lake and Forest, where you can engage in walk in the beautiful forest surrounding the lake. A bit to the north you will find the Aroneanu and Dorobanț lakes, suitable for laying down a blanket and staring at the sky or fishing and water sports.

To the south there are the wonderful forests between Bârnova and Dobovăț, one of the largest extra-Carpathian areas of natural beauty, for which efforts are being to protect it by declaring it a Natural Park. You can just venture into the forests by yourself as there are some marked trails or get in touch with the nature loving people from Codrii Iașilor for guided walks and other activities.

In this area you’ll also find the Repedea hill (the relay) which is a wide plateau known for its spectacular view of the city. It also has a natural climbing wall if you love the challenge. In the summer, the area is visited by a lot of locals who spend time in the sun.

Hiking, Parks
The reservoirs in the valley of the Ciric River were created from the desire of the city’s inhabitants to have a leisure area. The chain of lakes had the role of regulating the flow of water downstream and also they became the ideal place for recreation in Iasi.
